Environmental Analytical Solutions - XRF Analysis

Increasingly more importance is being placed on environmental issues and the legislation regarding the release of toxic compounds and heavy metals into the environment is getting tougher. It is more important than ever that we can accurately analyse a diverse range of material types and element concentrations.

PANalytical's X-ray fluorescence spectrometers have the ability to analyse a huge range of sample types from % down to sub-ppm levels. Analyse liquids, sludges, solids and air filters directly on the same instrument, and often with little or no sample preparation.

In recent years the field of X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry has undergone huge improvements. The modern XRF spectrometers can do what the ‘old' ones couldn't.  These innovations have primarily been through better tubes, better detectors and better computing power.  This gives us instruments with:

  • Better resolution and accuracy
  • Lower detection limits
  • The ability to analyse more of the lighter elements than before

There are many benefits of using XRF over other laboratory techniques:

  • Measure a wide range of sample types often with little or no sample preparation
  • Samples are analysed non-destructively way so that your sample can be kept and re-measured as many times as needed
  • The simpler sample preparation means better reproducibility and no harmful chemicals
